Statement by Mr Hartmann on appointments to Commission of Inquiry

Mr Michael John Hartmann, former Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal, today (July 10) issued the following statement on the appointments to the Commission of Inquiry into the Diaphragm Wall and Platform Slab Construction Works at the Hung Hom Station Extension under the Shatin to Central Link Project:
"In accepting our appointments as Chairman and Commissioners of the Commission of Inquiry, Professor Peter George Hansford and I are fully aware of the great concern of the community over the safety of such an important infrastructure project.
"We will ensure that our inquiry will be open and thorough, and we will do our utmost in discharging our duties. We will report to the Chief Executive within the time period requested of us.
"All enquiries by interested parties may be directed to the Secretary to the Commission, Mr Patrick Chan, at 2336 3615."
