EMSD officially launches online platform for I&T collaboration "E&M InnoPortal" (with photos)

The EMSD has all along been proactive in applying new technologies to enhance services and supporting the commercialisation of R&D results of I&T enterprises. The newly established "E&M InnoPortal" collects the needs for various technologies from government departments, public organisations and the electrical and mechanical (E&M) trade and publishes them on the platform after compilation for start-ups and academic institutions to offer corresponding I&T solutions. The EMSD will provide suitable venues to field-test E&M-related projects and validate their effectiveness and performance.
At the Innovative Technology Day held at the EMSD Headquarters today, the HKSTPC invited team members of 10 start-ups operating at the Hong Kong Science Park to introduce their R&D results in various aspects such as the Internet of Things, automation, energy efficiency and artificial intelligence, among which were R&D projects that the EMSD assisted in the testing and commercialisation process.
In his opening speech at the Innovative Technology Day, the Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Dr David Chung, welcomed the EMSD's new online platform, which offers an additional channel for start-ups and universities to realise their research outcomes. He said the new platform is also conducive to government departments and public organisations' identification of suitable I&T solutions to enhance public service through application of new technologies.
The Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services, Mr Alfred Sit, said that the EMSD will continue to act as the facilitator and promoter in supporting R&D work by the I&T sector and academic institutions while at the same time identifying opportunities for government departments and public organisations to apply new technologies to promote the development of smart city. Also attending the Innovative Technology Day, the Chief Technology Officer of the HKSTPC, Mr George Tee, said that he was pleased to see enterprises operating at the Science Park share their R&D results with the industry and pointed out that the HKSTPC will continue to identify I&T solutions of high business efficiency for different enterprises and thereby support local product inventions.
The "E&M InnoPortal" has been officially launched on the EMSD's website. Please visit www.emsd.gov.hk/inno.
