Fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei today (June 18) in which a 56-year-old man died.
      
     At about 3.03am, a taxi driven by a 23-year-old man and a taxi driven by a 67-year-old man were travelling along Nathan Road towards Mong Kok respectively. When passing junction of Nathan Road and Kansu Street, the taxi driven by the 23-year-old man reportedly collided with the taxi driven by the 67-year-old man. The taxi driven by the 67-year-old man reportedly lost control and knocked down a 56-year-old man on pavement.
      
     Sustaining injuries on the lower part of his body, he was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 3.44am.
      
     Another 27-year-old taxi passenger who sustained hand and shoulder injuries was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital for medical treatment in conscious state.
      
     The 23-year-old taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.
      
     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
