Family Council holds "Love Your Family More" publicity event (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Family Council:

     The Family Council, the Home Affairs Bureau and Radio Television Hong Kong jointly held the "Love Your Family More" publicity event this afternoon (May 26), with an aim of promoting the family core value of "communication and harmony".

     The Chairman of the Family Council, Professor Daniel Shek, and other guests encouraged the public to grasp the opportunity to communicate with their families through talent shows and sharing sessions. Professor Shek stressed the importance of communication in having a happy family. He encouraged members of the public to organise more family gatherings, care for their families more and cherish time spent with them.

     The Family Council will launch a new family education package in the fourth quarter of 2018. Through various drama episodes to present communication difficulties encountered in different types of family relationships, including those of elderly couples, working parents, siblings, grandparents and grandchildren, the package will provide tips to encourage better communication among family members so as to establish a happy family together.

     Moreover, the Family Council will join forces with the Consortium of Institutes on Family in the Asian Region, the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Hong Kong, the Social Welfare Department and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service to hold the Asian Family Summit in August 2018. The Summit will provide a platform for scholars, professionals, public/private organisations and community organisations to collaborate and discuss family issues, thereby raising public awareness on the significance of family well-being and its relationship with sustainable development.
