SCED to attend APEC ministerial meeting in Papua New Guinea

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Edward Yau, will depart for Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea tomorrow (May 23) to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) Meeting to be held on May 25 and 26.
 
     To promote sustainable, innovative and inclusive growth in the region, APEC this year has adopted the theme "Harnessing Inclusive Opportunities, Embracing the Digital Future", with discussions focusing on how APEC embraces new challenges in the digital age under three priorities, namely improving connectivity and deepening regional economic integration; promoting sustainable and inclusive growth; and strengthening inclusive growth through structural reform.
 
     In addition to joining the discussion sessions of the MRT Meeting, Mr Yau will hold bilateral meetings with other trade ministers to exchange views on trade-related issues.
 
     Mr Yau will return to Hong Kong in the evening on Saturday (May 26). During his absence, the Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Dr Bernard Chan, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development.
