Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected smuggled computer central processing units (with photos)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (May 7) seized 2 203 suspected smuggled computer central processing units (CPUs) with an estimated market value of about $2.45 million at Shenzhen Bay Control Point.

     Customs officers intercepted an outgoing private car at Shenzhen Bay Control Point for inspection yesterday evening and seized the batch of CPUs from a false compartment in the vehicle.  

     The 57-year-old male driver was arrested. Investigation is ongoing.

     Smuggling is a serious offence. Under the Import and Export Ordinance, any person found guilty of importing or exporting unmanifested cargo is liable to a maximum fine of $2 million and imprisonment for seven years.
