Eligible public rental housing applicants may choose Urban district
*******************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:

The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA)'s Subsidised Housing Committee (SHC) today (May 2) approved that public rental housing (PRH) applicants registered on or before September 30, 2013, would be allowed to choose to switch their choice of district to the Urban district if they so wish.

"As the projected supply of PRH flats in the Urban district will increase in the next two years, Members of the SHC agreed that the HA is now in a position to allow more applicants to have the choice of switching to Urban district," a spokesman for the HA said.

Eligible applicants will be notified of the relaxation and reminded that the actual waiting time for flats in the Urban district depends on a number of factors, including the number of applicants who switch to the Urban queue and the actual supply of new and refurbished flats in the Urban district.

"Applicants are free to revert to their original choice of district or switch to other non-urban districts any time, while keeping their original registration dates," the spokesman added.
