Applications open for Summer Music Workshop
*******************************************
The Summer Music Workshop organised by the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will be held from July 16 to August 24. Music lessons for children aged 7 to 9 will be held in July, while music lessons for those aged 4 to 6 will be held in August. Applications are now open and will close on June 11.

The workshops aim to encourage children to explore their interest in learning music and acquire music knowledge during the summer holidays. It is not necessary for participants to have received any music training beforehand. They will learn basic knowledge on music notes, letter names and rhythms, as well as about various Chinese and Western orchestral instruments and music theory. Through musical games and interactive activities, participants will also be able to strengthen their rhythmic sense, listening skills and attentiveness. Children aged from 4 to 6 must each be accompanied by an adult in class.

The five lessons will be conducted in Cantonese with a total tuition fee of $280. A ballot will be held if the classes are oversubscribed. For classes not fully taken up after the deadline, applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting from July 12.

Children who attend all five lessons will be given a certificate of attendance and can join one of the Introduction to Musical Instruments sessions for free to learn more about different musical instruments.

Online applications are now available at www.lcsd.gov.hk/musicoffice. Course information and application forms are also available at various performance venues of the LCSD and music centres of the Music Office. For enquiries, please call 2158 6466 or 2582 5321.
