The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, visited Sha Tin District this afternoon (April 27) to call on a social enterprise and a secondary school, and exchange views with Sha Tin District Council (STDC) members.

Accompanied by the District Officer (Sha Tin), Miss Amy Chan, Mr Lau first met with the Chairman of the STDC, Mr Ho Hau-cheung, and other STDC members to exchange views on various district issues and matters of concern.

Mr Lau then visited WashEasy, a social enterprise run by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, to learn about its production line and logistic arrangements. He also listened to disabled staff sharing their feelings at work. WashEasy strives to provide a one-stop dishware cleaning service for nursing homes, non-governmental organisations, restaurants and clubhouses. It is the first dishwashing social enterprise to employ disabled staff, providing them with employment opportunities and helping them to become self-reliant and integrate into society.

Mr Lau also visited Kwok Tak Seng Catholic Secondary School and watched a musical rehearsal performed by students. He also met the principal and students to learn about the school's characteristics and chatted with students participating in performing arts. The school has remarkable achievements in the performing arts, winning six awards in the Sha Tin Drama Contest 2017/2018 organised by the Sha Tin Arts Association.
