Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

     L.T Electrical Company Limited was fined $150,000 at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (April 27) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on August 28, 2016 in Wan Chai. A worker, while carrying out electric cable laying work inside a false ceiling at an upper floor of an office building, received an electric shock. He was admitted to hospital and passed away two days later.
