Fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long in the afternoon today (April 26) in which a 48-year-old woman died.

     At about 1.41pm, a private car driven by the 48-year-old woman was travelling along Yuen Long Highway towards Tuen Mun. When approaching near Long Tin Road, it reportedly collided with a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 44-year-old man. Both private car driver and LGV driver later left their vehicles.

     The private car driver was reportedly rammed by a public light bus driven by a 63-year-old man later.  

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the private car driver was rushed to Tin Shui Wai Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 2.46pm.

     The public light bus driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He was released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in early May.

     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving and misleading police officers and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North and District Investigation Team of Yuen Long is underway.
