JPC@Pat Heung Open Day concludes successfully (with photos)

     Police held the JPC@Pat Heung Open Day today (April 21) to let the public learn more about the training centre and display the multi-faceted nature of Police work.

     Chief Inspector of JPC@Pat Heung, Mr Tse Yu-ngai, said the training centre serves members of Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call, young people, students and ethnic minorities. Since its opening in 2017, it was the first open day of JPC@Pat Heung with an aim of promoting community engagement and enhancing public understanding of Police work and schemes of Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call. The event also introduced to the public the purpose and facilities of the training centre.

     The open day offered a rich diversity of programmes, including a joint counter terrorism exercise as well as Police Band, Police Dog Unit, artistic cycling and music performances.  There were also display of special Police vehicles and uniforms in different eras. Some 20 exhibition and game booths were also set up by various Police units, arts and sports clubs for visitors. 

     Visitors could also take part in activities such as zipline, mini-Police uniform photo shooting, laser gun shooting, horse riding, Dialogue in the Dark, and an activity “Aerodynamics – Fly with Just a Piece of Paper” under the Hong Kong Science Festival 2018 co-organsied with the Hong Kong Science Museum. 

     Located at Pat Heung, Yuen Long, JPC@Pat Heung was formerly a Fire Services Training School. Upon completion of the renovation works in mid-2017, the training centre was officially open on August 10, 2017.

     JPC@Pat Heung occupies an area of about 29,000 square metres and provides various indoor and outdoor training facilities and 200 hostel places. It provides discipline, physical fitness and team building-related training to Junior Police Call members, and also training venue and programmes to members of Senior Police Call, schools and youth organisations. More than 14,000 people have received training at JPC@Pat Heung since its opening.
