Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

     China Road and Bridge Corporate and Grand Top Construction Engineering Limited were each fined $360,000 at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today (April 20) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on June 28, 2016, at West Kowloon Highway near Hoi Lai Estate. Three workers while clearing the set-up for lane closure on an expressway after road surface repairing work were knocked down by a moving vehicle. As a result, all of them sustained fatal injuries.
