Fatal traffic accident in Central (with photo)

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Central this morning (April 18) in which a man died.

     At about 5.15am, a taxi driven by a 42-year-old man was traveling along Connaught Road Central west bound. When approaching near Club Street, it reportedly knocked down the man who was crossing the road.

    Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 5.34am. The taxi driver, sustaining injuries to his arm, was sent to Queen Mary Hospital in conscious state.

    Aged about 30 years old, the man was about 1.74 metres tall with short, black hair, and dark complexion. He was wearing a dark-coloured sweater, light-coloured jeans and white sports shoes. No identity document was found in his possession.

    The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in mid-May.

    Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.
