The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced that Harcourt Garden in Central and Western District has been reopened today (April 16) following the completion of its reprovisioning works, providing a pleasant public leisure space in the busy city centre.

     Harcourt Garden has been reprovisioned in-situ to facilitate the construction of the MTR Shatin to Central Link. Occupying about 13 500 square metres in area, the new garden has been designed with a landscaped deck connecting directly to the footbridges nearby, providing seamless and convenient access to the commercial buildings in the vicinity.

     Following the reprovisioning, members of the public can enjoy the landscaped areas and relax on the terraced-step seats where they are surrounded by lush lawns and plants.

     Twenty-nine granite blocks, which originally were seawall fragments from the 19th century found at the reprovisioning works site, are displayed as part of the landscaping design in the garden, creating a sense of historic ambience. Also featured are a clock tower in the centre of the garden as well as a winning art piece.

     Other facilities in the garden include covered benches, public toilet facilities (including disabled-accessible toilets) and a baby-care room.

     Harcourt Garden is located between Queensway and Harcourt Road, and adjacent to Admiralty MTR Station and the Hong Kong Police Headquarters. It is easily accessible by walking from Admiralty MTR Station or by taking various bus and minibus routes.
