LD to hold occupational health public talks

     The Labour Department (LD) will hold a public talk entitled "Noise hazards and prevention of hearing loss" on April 19 (Thursday). The talk will give an introduction on the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Noise at Work) Regulation and the Occupational Deafness Compensation Scheme, as well as health hazards posed by noise at work and preventive measures for hearing loss.

     The talk, to be given by the representative of the Occupational Deafness Compensation Board, the LD's occupational hygienist and occupational health nurse, will be held at 3pm in the Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Space Museum, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.

     The LD will hold another talk entitled "Occupational safety and health for confined space workers" on April 25 (Wednesday). The talk will explain the occupational safety and health hazards associated with working in confined spaces, as well as their preventive measures, to enhance workers' awareness of related issues.

     The talk, to be given by the LD's occupational hygienist, occupational safety officer and occupational health nurse, will be held at 6.30pm in Activity Room 1, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay.

     Both talks will be conducted in Cantonese. Admission is free. For enquiries or registration, please call 2852 4040.
