Proposals invited for operating a leisure farm and ancillary facilities in Kennedy Town
***************************************************************************************
The Development Bureau (DEVB) today (March 29) invited proposals from non-profit-making organisations (NPOs) and social enterprises (SEs) for operating a non-profit-making leisure farm and ancillary facilities at a piece of government land at Shing Sai Road in Kennedy Town.

The subject site of about 2 000 square metres in area occupies the hinterland portion of three berths released from the Western District Public Cargo Working Area. The site, which is currently vacant, is coloured green on the attached plan.

After consulting the Central and Western District Council, the Harbourfront Commission and other stakeholders, the Government considers that the site could be let out to a NPO or SE for operating a leisure farm with ancillary facilities for a term of three years through a short-term tenancy at nominal rent.

A spokesman for DEVB said the project seeks to bring in expertise from the NPO or SE to increase harbourfront vibrancy through operation of a leisure farm. It can also allow people to enjoy the fun of gardening activities with their relatives and friends and raise their awareness of greening.

Interested NPOs and SEs should submit their proposals to DEVB on or before noon on June 29, 2018. Invitation documents are now available at DEVB's website (www.devb.gov.hk/en/issues_in_focus/leisure_farm_and_kennedy_town/index.html).

Proposals received will be assessed according to pre-determined criteria including diversity and accessibility of activities organised by the leisure farm, compatibility of proposed uses with the harbourfront environment and district engagement activities. The marking scheme is also available at DEVB's website. The result of this proposal invitation exercise is expected to be announced in the latter half of 2018.
