General Outpatient Clinic service during Easter Holidays
********************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson for the Hospital Authority (HA) today (March 28) announced that the 12 holiday general out-patient clinics (see appended table) will remain normal service during the coming Easter holidays (March 30 – April 2) to serve the community. Members of the public are reminded to make advance booking through the telephone system as usual for appointments. In anticipation of possible increase in demand for primary medical services during the holidays, a total of 1,900 extra service quotas will be provided in the holiday clinics.

The spokesperson further remarked that the Accident & Emergency (A&E) Departments in public hospitals will also operate as usual during the holidays to serve the patients with urgent medical needs. The established triage system will ensure priority treatment for critical and emergency patients according to their clinical conditions. The queuing time is expected to be longer for semi-urgent and non-urgent patients as there may be more patients attending A&E departments during holidays and on the first working day following the holidays. HA appeals to the public for understanding and cooperation while waiting for consultations. Non-urgent patients are advised to consider seeking consultations at general out-patient clinics, private doctors or the 24-hour clinics of private hospitals.

"On the other hand, the HA would like to take the opportunity to remind the public who will be travelling outside Hong Kong during the holidays to avoid contacting birds or poultry. They are advised to reveal their travel history to healthcare staff when seeking medical consultation.  The general public should adopt a healthy lifestyle such as covering the nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing, maintaining proper hand hygiene and putting on a mask when developing symptoms of respiratory infections in order to avoid further spread of the disease," the spokesperson added.
