Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island
     Police officers issued a total of 947 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 47 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island yesterday (March 26).

     The operation concluded at 11.30 pm and a total of 305 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western Districts were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black spots on Hong Kong Island.

     A total of 818 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 129 for other traffic offences.

     Besides, five pedestrians were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences.

     Statistics revealed that a total of 511 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island between January and February 2018, of which 131 cases with pedestrians injured. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 36.6 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
