CAS Cadet Corps passing-out parade held (with photos)
*****************************************************
The Civil Aid Service (CAS) Cadet Corps held the 108th New Cadets Passing-out Parade at the CAS Headquarters today (March 24). The CAS Cadet Corps Commander, Mr Chan Chun-hing, officiated at the reviewing ceremony.

Addressing the Passing-out Parade, Mr Chan said that the CAS Cadet Corps was dedicated to promoting social inclusion by encouraging non-ethnic Chinese youths to join the Cadet Corps and serve the community. Among the 260 youths who have joined today's parade as new cadets, 17 are non-ethnic Chinese. The CAS hopes that through uniformed group training and activities, young people from all ethnicities and backgrounds can develop a good rapport and serve the community together.

Established in 1968, the CAS Cadet Corps aims to encourage young people to develop skills and leadership and to build their confidence and sense of responsibility by participating in group activities and training which are beneficial to the development of the mind and body. Adhering to its founding objectives, "To Learn, to grow, to explore, to serve", the Cadet Corps aims at nurturing young people to become future community leaders and to spare no effort in serving the community.

In 2017, the CAS Cadet Corps introduced the School Partnership Scheme, which provided disciplinary training for students in co-ordination with the school schedule so as to allow more students to join the CAS Cadet Corps. A total of 21 schools and over 1 300 students participated in the scheme last year.

The CAS will soon launch the School Partnership Scheme for 2018.  In addition to disciplinary training camps, training covering cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of automated external defibrillators, as well as seminars on mountaineering safety, will also be arranged for participating schools, providing more diverse activities for students.
