Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

     The Great European Carnival Limited was fined $50,000 at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (March 23) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
 
     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on February 15, 2017, in Central. While dismantling a platform of an amusement ride on a worksite, a worker fell together with the platform about 5 metres to the ground. He sustained serious head injury and passed away on the same day.
