Fatal traffic accident in Tai Po

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tai Po this afternoon (March 18) in which a 59-year-old man died.

     At about 3.10pm today, two motorcycles driven by the 59-year-old man and a 56-year-old man respectively were travelling in sequence along Ting Kok Road towards Tai Mei Tuk, while a private car driven by a 58-year-old man was travelling along Ting Kok Road towards Tai Po. When the private car was turning into Tai Po Lung Mei Road, it reportedly collided with the motorcycle driven by the 59-year-old man. The following motorcycle failed to brake and collided with the private car.

    Sustaining serious chest and neck injuries, the 59-year-old motorcyclist was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 4.42pm. The 58-year-old male private car driver, a 58-year-old female private car passenger and the 56-year-old male motorcyclist were also injured and sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in conscious state.

     The private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in late March.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.
