Police are investigating a murder case in Wan Chai in the small hours today (March 18) in which a six-year-old boy died.

     At about 0.55am, Police received a report that the six-year-old boy fell unconscious inside a unit on Lockhart Road.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found the six-year-old boy lying unconsciously inside the unit. Sustaining injuries to his neck, he was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 2.28am.

     After initial investigation, Police arrested the 52-year-old grandmother of the boy in suspected connection with the case. She is being detained for further enquiries.

     A nylon strap in suspected connection with the case was seized at scene.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Wan Chai District is underway.
