    Following is the transcript of remarks by the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, at a media session after an online media programme today (March 15):
 
Reporter: Different political parties have been repeatedly pushing for more sweeteners in the Budget offered, like the Pan-Dems are calling for universal cash hand-outs, and the DAB is calling for measures like electricity subsidies. So, would you listen to their demands and is there room for changes?

Financial Secretary: I have heard their suggestions, which have been widely publicised, long before we met yesterday. At this stage, we still believe that through the caring and sharing scheme to be devised by the Community Care Fund, would be a better method to cover those who might not be able to benefit from the sharing and caring measures in this Budget.

Reporter: So, through the Community Care Fund you allocate money. Is the Government …

Financial Secretary: The Community Care Fund will be acting as an agent to help us devise such a scheme. The money will be coming from the Government instead of the Community Care Fund.
