Dennis Wu to host "Journeys through Music Lecture Series" on Austrian composers
*******************************************************************************
Following the positive response to the "Journeys through Music Lecture Series" instalments "Into Germany", "Into Eastern Europe", "Into Russia" and "Into France", versatile music practitioner Dennis Wu will return to host a new series, "Journeys through Music Lecture Series: Into Austria", from April to June. The series is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

His lectures will discuss people, music and culture under Habsburg rule, one of the most influential empires in Europe. The political background of the Habsburg Empire provided a unique setting for classicism to arise in Austria, where the beautiful countryside and ethnically hybrid population helped transform classical music into a unique blend of philosophical quest and earthly delights. Details are as follows:

April 18 (Wednesday)
Topic: Joseph Haydn

April 25 (Wednesday)
Topic: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

May 2 (Wednesday)
Topic: Carl Czerny

May 9 (Wednesday)

May 16 (Wednesday)

May 23 (Wednesday)

May 30 (Wednesday)

June 6 (Wednesday)
