Hong Kong Customs today (March 12) held a seminar for traders and practitioners of the beauty industry at the Customs Headquarters Building, reminding them to comply with the Trade Descriptions Ordinance (TDO). The seminar was aimed at stepping up compliance promotion, which helps in combating unfair trade practices in the industry.

Customs gave a briefing on the fair trading provisions of the TDO during the seminar and told the participating traders and practitioners about the latest unfair trade practices in the beauty industry as well as some successful prosecution cases, reminding them to strictly abide by the regulations stipulated in the TDO during their course of doing business.

Customs reiterated that it will continue its three-pronged strategy, namely stringent enforcement, compliance promotion and public education, to safeguard consumer rights under the TDO.
