Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected controlled air pistols with parts (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (March 8) seized four suspected controlled air pistols with parts with an estimated market value of about $6,000 at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point.

     Customs officers intercepted an outgoing female passenger at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point yesterday afternoon and seized four suspected controlled air pistols with parts from a recycle bag carried by her.

     The 33-year-old woman was arrested. Investigation is ongoing.

     Under the Firearms and Ammunition Ordinance, any person found guilty of possession of arms without a licence is liable to a maximum fine of $100,000 and imprisonment for 14 years.

     Hong Kong Customs reminds members of the public that any person who possesses or carries prohibited articles from Hong Kong to the Mainland or vice versa may contravene the relevant laws of Hong Kong or the Mainland. The consequences are serious and offenders may be subject to a custodial sentence. Members of the public should refrain from accepting any hiring or entrustment from any person to carry prohibited articles to and from Hong Kong.
