He founded the Venice Baroque Orchestra in 1997 and has led the group to international acclaim. He has been the artistic director of the Basel La Cetra Baroque Orchestra since 2009.

Founded in 1999 with a mission to bring the music of the past to life with a fresh, dynamic and contemporary approach, the Basel La Cetra Baroque Orchestra has worked regularly with many well-known guest conductors and soloists and is recognised as one of the world's leading chamber orchestras of early classical music.
