Special traffic and transport arrangements for event in Wan Chai North
**********************************************************************
     The Transport Department (TD) today (March 6) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Wan Chai North from about 10pm this Sunday (March 11) to 6am next Monday (March 12) to facilitate an event in Wan Chai North.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements mainly include:

*  The bus terminus at Expo Drive East will be suspended;

*  The following bus stops will be suspended:
1. Expo Drive East near Convention Avenue;
2. Expo Drive East outside Golden Bauhinia Square;
3. Harbour Road outside Central Plaza; and
4. Harbour Road outside Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre;

*   Citybus route No.25A and cross-harbour route No.961 will be temporarily diverted;

*  The taxi stand at Expo Drive will be suspended; and

*  The metered parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces at Lung King Street and Expo Drive East will be suspended.

     The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of Wan Chai North will be busier than usual. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience and follow the instructions of the Police.

     Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to plan their routes in advance, allow more travelling time to cater for unexpected delay, and use public transport services as far as possible. Public transport commuters are advised to pay attention to the arrangements of route diversion and changes of stop locations.

     Depending on the actual traffic conditions in the area, other ad-hoc traffic and public transport measures such as road closures, traffic diversions, alterations and suspensions of public transport services may be implemented by the Police. Members of the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

     Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For enquiries, please call 1823.
