TID to hold seminar for SMEs on "The Belt and Road Initiative and Hong Kong SMEs"

     The Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs (SUCCESS) of the Trade and Industry Department will hold a seminar entitled "The Belt and Road Initiative and Hong Kong SMEs" on March 16 (Friday).
 
     The Belt and Road Initiative (the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road) is a topical subject these days, attracting attention from different sectors. This seminar will focus on the relevance of the Belt and Road Initiative to Hong Kong small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and the business environment and opportunities of two member states of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), namely Malaysia and Myanmar. The seminar will also explore how Hong Kong SMEs may access the ASEAN market through e-commerce, and introduce the Free Trade Agreement newly concluded between Hong Kong and ASEAN, as well as SME banking services related to the Belt and Road Initiative.
 
     The speakers will include the Assistant Director-General (Europe) of the Trade and Industry Department, Mr Owin Fung; the Deputy Chairman of the Hong Kong Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and ex-Chairman of the Hong Kong Sea Transport and Logistics Association, Mr Eric Wong; the President of the Malaysia Dongguan Entrepreneurs Federation, Mr Ken Chong; the Divisional Manager of Fung Omni Services, Fung Group, Mr Richie Yung; the Founding President of the Hong Kong Greater China SME Alliance Association, Mr Jimmy Wan; the Director of Business Banking Segments, Retail Banking, Standard Chartered (Hong Kong) Limited, Mr Vincent Wong; and the Publisher of SIDE Magazine, Dr Michael So.
 
     The seminar will be held at 2.30pm in the Lecture Theatre, G/F, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay (MTR Tin Hau Station, Exit B). The seminar will be conducted in Cantonese. Admission is free.
