CSSA caseload for January 2018

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in January dropped 101 cases, remaining more or less the same as that of December 2017, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (February 28).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of January stood at 232 033 (see attached table), with a total of 335 450 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 2.1 per cent and 0.9 per cent to 4 309 cases and 12 628 cases respectively.

     Single parent cases decreased by 0.2 per cent to 25 737 cases while permanent disability cases dropped slightly by 0.1 per cent to 17 115 cases.

     Both old age cases and ill health cases edged up by 0.1 per cent to 144 349 cases and 23 665 cases respectively.
