Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected smuggled smartphones (with photo)

Customs officers intercepted an outgoing private car at Sha Tau Kok Control Point for inspection yesterday afternoon and seized 16 smartphones from the driving compartment and the fuse box of the private car.
In the same afternoon, Customs officers intercepted an outgoing private car at Man Kam To Control Point and seized 66 smartphones from the battery compartment of the private car.
During the interceptions, Customs arrested two male drivers aged 56 and 57 respectively.
Investigations are ongoing.
Smuggling is a serious offence. Under the Import and Export Ordinance, any person found guilty of importing or exporting unmanifested cargo is liable to a maximum fine of $2 million and imprisonment for seven years.
