Tin Shui Wai Hospital extends accident and emergency service hours (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, announced at the Tree Planting Ceremony at Tin Shui Wai Hospital (TSWH) today (February 27) the extension of accident and emergency (A&E) services hours in late March to further enhance services to local residents.

     Other guests attending the ceremony included the Under Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Chui Tak-yi; the Chairman of the Hospital Authority (HA), Professor John Leong and the Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin; the Chairman of the Hospital Governing Committee of TSWH, Mr Wong Kwai-huen; the Chairman of the Yuen Long District Council, Mr Shum Ho-kit; the District Officer (Yuen Long), Mr Enoch Yuen; Project Director of the Architectural Services Department Mr David Chak; the Deputising Cluster Chief Executive of New Territories West Cluster, Dr Simon Tang and the Hospital Chief Executive of TSWH, Dr Deacons Yeung.

     "Since TSWH's service commencement in January 2017, this new medical service point has been launching various services to local residents in phases. To further enhance its service and cater for residents with urgent medical needs, TSWH's A&E will extend service to 12 hours daily beginning from March 21, opening from 8am to 8pm," Professor Chan said.

     Also speaking at the ceremony, Professor John Leong expressed gratitude to Professor Chan for the support given to TSWH. "HA will monitor TSWH's operation and the community’s needs to further commission other services in phases."

     Mr Wong said he also appreciated the support given by the community to allow TSWH to run smoothly from construction to completion and service commissioning.

     TSWH is the fifth hospital of NTWC, currently providing A&E, Special Outpatient Clinic, Renal Dialysis, Allied Health, Diagnostic Radiology, Pharmacy and Community Nursing services. The hospital is now working on manpower and resources deployment to commence 24-hour A&E and acute inpatient services in November 2018.
