In-patient leaving Tuen Mun Hospital without notifying staff

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) made the following appeal today (February 13) regarding an incident of an in-patient who left the hospital without notifying the ward staff:

     A 60-year-old male in-patient with mental retardation and psychiatric illness was found missing by the ward staff of the Ear, Nose and Throat/Ophthalmology Department at 5.30am this morning. The security guards performed a full-scale search within the hospital compound immediately but were unable to locate the patient. TMH is very concerned about the incident and reported it to the Police immediately. The hospital is fully co-operating with the Police in the search. The patient does not have any relatives.

     The patient concerned is around 1.56 metres tall and has a thin build and black hair. According to CCTV footage, the patient was wearing a green camouflage vest, a grey long-sleeved top and grey trousers when leaving TMH via the exit to Tuen Mun Hospital light rail Stop.

     The hospital appeals to the public to contact Tuen Mun Police Station at 3661 5810 or call the Tuen Mun Hospital Patient Resource Centre at 6468 0016 if they know the whereabouts of the patient.
