Fatal traffic accident in Sheung Shui

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sheung Shui yesterday (February 11) in which two men, aged 37 and 26, died.

     At about 5.35pm, a private car driven by a 37-year-old man was travelling along Fanling Highway towards Tai Po. When reaching near Dawning Views, it reportedly lost control and collided with three private cars and a police motorcycle, then over-turned.

     The 37-year-old private car driver and a 26-year-old male passenger were trapped inside the compartment and were rescued by firemen. The driver was certified dead at scene, while the passenger was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in unconscious state and was later certified dead at 6.47pm. A police officer, a 32-year-old male private car driver and his 31-year-old female passenger, and a 68-year-old male private car driver were slightly injured and sent to North District Hospital in conscious state for medical treatment.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North, is underway.
