A new exhibition entitled "The Oral Legacies Series II: The Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hong Kong" will be opened at 2.30pm in the Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Centre at the Sam Tung Uk Museum tomorrow (February 10). The exhibition aims to introduce members of the public to the items that have been inscribed onto the first Representative List of the ICH of Hong Kong.
    
     The exhibition will introduce the 20 items that have been inscribed onto the Representative List through exhibition panels, videos and multimedia devices, as well as present simulated settings including a Hong Kong-style café where local-style milk tea is made, a teahouse where nanyin performances would have taken place in the past, a workshop of a Hong Kong-style cheongsam master, and a mini bamboo theatre. Objects and tools that are related to the ICH items will also be displayed in order to create immersive environments for visitors to learn about the fascinating local ICH.
 
     "ICH Fun Day" will be held on the same day from 3pm to 5.30pm, during which members of the public can experience local traditions through a wide range of programmes, including a dragon parade, a nanyin performance and tasting of Hong Kong-style milk tea. A lucky bat crafting workshop and a demonstration of the sewing techniques for making a Hong Kong-style cheongsam by an experienced master will also be available for the public.
 
     The first Representative List of the ICH of Hong Kong was announced in August 2017, including 10 local items which have been inscribed onto the national list of ICH, namely Cantonese opera, herbal tea, the Cheung Chau Jiao Festival, the Tai O dragon boat water parade, the Yu Lan Ghost Festival of the Hong Kong Chiu Chow community, the Mid-Autumn Festival Tai Hang fire dragon dance, the arts of the guqin (the craft of qin making), Quanzhen temples Taoist ritual music, the Hakka unicorn dance in Hang Hau in Sai Kung, and Wong Tai Sin belief and customs. Apart from these, there are 10 other items comprising nanyin (southern tunes), spring and autumn ancestral worship of clans, the Tin Hau Festival in Hong Kong, Mid-Autumn Festival - the Pok Fu Lam fire dragon dance, the Taoist ritual tradition of the Zhengyi school, the sek pun (basin feast), the Hong Kong-style milk tea making technique, the paper crafting technique, the sewing techniques of Hong Kong-style cheongsam and kwan kwa wedding costume, and the bamboo theatre building technique.
