Lunar New Year Thematic Lantern Display "Happily the Fishes Leap!" to light up Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza from today (with photos)
***************************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present a Lunar New Year thematic lantern display entitled "Happily the Fishes Leap!" at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC) Piazza from today (February 9) featuring koi fish, a symbol of good fortune, as the main theme to celebrate the advent of the Lunar New Year. Admission is free.

The lantern display showcases nearly 90 lanterns of koi in different colours and patterns, including nine 4-metre-long giant koi and 80 small leaping ones. Two archways standing at the centre of the display are decorated with lanterns resembling splashing water, with leaping koi on the top of each arch, symbolising abundance and success. In addition, revolving floral lanterns are installed at the pools to add even more colour to the display.

The "Happily the Fishes Leap!" lantern display will run until March 4 and the lanterns will be lit up from 6pm to 11pm daily.

Apart from the lantern display, the LCSD will also hold three lantern carnivals at various locations featuring a variety of entertainment to celebrate the coming Lunar New Year. They will be held at the HKCC Piazza on March 2 (Friday), at Tung Chung North Park on March 3 (Saturday) and at Hong Kong Velodrome Park in Tseung Kwan O on March 4 (Sunday).
