Special arrangement for child care centres and youth centres
************************************************************
In view of the present influenza situation, the Government announced today (February 7) that all kindergartens, kindergarten-cum-child care centres, primary schools and special schools (excluding Schools for Social Development with secondary section only) would start their Chinese New Year holidays from tomorrow (February 8) to help prevent the spread of influenza.

To minimise the chance of infection, the Social Welfare Department (SWD) advises members of the public not to take their children or family members to child care centres, special child care centres and centres providing after-school care programmes. However, these centres will remain open to serve those in need of services.

An SWD spokesman stressed that all child care centres, special child care centres and centres providing after-school care programmes would remain open to continue their service provision for members of the public who might have difficulty in taking care of their children or family members.

In addition, parents may make use of the services provided under the Neighbourhood Support Child Care Project where necessary. For enquiries, please call the SWD hotline at 2343 2255.
