SED on advancement of Chinese New Year school holidays
******************************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, at a media session after attending the Chief Executive's Question Time at the Legislative Council today (February 7):
Reporter: Mr Yeung, this (the decision to advance the Chinese New Year holidays for kindergartens and primary schools) is quite an abrupt decision and some parents may not be able to arrange for their children to be taken care of. Is there some sort of arrangement to help them?
Secretary for Education: As I said, we have asked the schools and the kindergartens to remain open during this period so that those parents having problems of finding someone to look after their kids could still send their kids back to the schools.
