Senior appointments (with photos)

(a) Miss Cathy Chu Man-ling, Commissioner for Tourism, will take up the post of Director of Information Services on February 20, 2018; and
(b) Mr Joe Wong Chi-cho, Director of Information Services, will take up the post of Commissioner for Tourism on February 20, 2018.
Commenting on these appointments, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joshua Law, said, "The two appointees are seasoned Administrative Officers with proven leadership and management skills. I have every confidence that they will serve the community with professionalism in their new capacities and rise to the challenges ahead."
Brief biographical notes of the two officers are set out below:
Miss Cathy Chu Man-ling

Miss Chu joined the Administrative Service in June 1988 and rose to the rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade A in April 2017. She has served in a wide range of bureaux and departments, including the former Education and Manpower Branch, the former Health and Welfare Branch, the former City and New Territories Administration, the former Trade Department, the former Security Branch, the Information Services Department, the former Environment, Transport and Works Bureau and the Home Affairs Bureau. She was Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Treasury) from October 2010 to July 2012 and Director, Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing from July 2012 to November 2014, and has served as Commissioner for Tourism since December 2014.
Mr Joe Wong Chi-cho

Mr Wong joined the Administrative Service in July 1987 and rose to the rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade B1 in April 2013. He has served in various bureaux and departments, including the former Health and Welfare Branch, the former City and New Territories Administration, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York, the former Economic Services Branch, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Washington DC and the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau. He was Deputy Director of Housing (Corporate Services) from June 2009 to October 2011 and Deputy Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Communications and Technology) (later retitled as Deputy Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Communications and Creative Industries)) from October 2011 to July 2016, and was appointed Director of Information Services in July 2016.
