STH to attend first Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation

     The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Frank Chan Fan, will depart for Beijing tomorrow evening (January 31) to attend the first Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation.

     The conference is co-hosted by the International Civil Aviation Organization and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Civil aviation ministers and senior officials from the Asia Pacific region will discuss the latest developments in civil aviation and exchange views on issues such as flight safety and sustainable development in the region. Mr Chan will attend the conference as the Deputy Head of the Chinese delegation.

     During his stay in Beijing, Mr Chan and the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Mr Simon Li, will meet with officials of the CAAC and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Macao Special Administrative Region to strengthen mutual exchanges and collaboration in areas of civil aviation. He will also meet with the officials of the CAAC to formulate the new intermodal code-sharing arrangement under the Air Services Arrangement between the Mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, with a view to enhancing the transportation network between the Mainland and Hong Kong.

     Mr Chan will return to Hong Kong on Friday afternoon (February 2). During his absence, the Under Secretary for Transport and Housing, Dr Raymond So Wai-man, will be the Acting Secretary for Transport and Housing.
