Special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements this Sunday (January 28)to facilitate two public events to be held on Hong Kong Island.

(I)
     
     The general pick-up/drop-off and loading/unloading area on Lung Wo Road outside the General Post Office will be closed from 3pm on January 27 to 3pm the following day.

     The following traffic arrangements will be implemented from 1am to 1pm on January 28:

     Road closure
------------

- Edinburgh Place (east and north of City Hall) between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central, except for vehicles leaving City Hall car park;
- Lung Wo Road between Fenwick Pier Street and Man Yiu Street, except the leftmost lane of westbound Lung Wo Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Edinburgh Place;
- Yiu Sing Street; and
- Around 40 metres of the leftmost lane of southbound Man Yiu Street between Lung Wo Road and Yiu Sing Street.

Traffic diversions
------------------

- Traffic along southbound Man Yiu Street cannot turn left to eastbound Lung Wo Road;
- Traffic along southbound Man Yiu Street cannot turn left to Yiu Sing Street;
- Traffic along eastbound Man Cheung Street cannot enter eastbound Lung Wo Road and must turn to Man Yiu Street;
- Traffic along eastbound Man Po Street cannot enter eastbound Yiu Sing Street and must turn to Man Yiu Street;
- Traffic along northbound Edinburgh Place east of City Hall cannot enter westbound Lung Wo Road;
- Traffic along northbound Legislative Council Road cannot enter westbound Lung Wo Road and will be diverted to southbound Legislative Council Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Lung Wui Road cannot enter westbound Lung Wo Road; and
- Traffic along westbound Fenwick Pier Street cannot enter westbound Lung Wo Road.

Suspension of parking spaces

     All on-street parking meters and motorcycle parking spaces at the open space outside General Post Office on Lung Wo Road will be suspended from 3pm on January 27 to 3pm the following day.

     All vehicles parked illegally will be towed away without prior notice.

(II)

     The following roads will be intermittently closed from 2.30pm until the crowd is dispersed and traffic resumes normal:

- Eastbound Des Voeux Road Central between Ice House Street and Murray Road;
- Eastbound Queensway between Des Voeux Road Central and Tamar Street;
- Northbound Murray Road;
- Northbound Tamar Street;
- Eastbound Harcourt Road;
- Westbound Harcourt Road; and
- If necessary, fast lane of Garden Road flyover.

     Vehicles may not be permitted to leave or access car parks along the procession route during the road closure period.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the areas. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
