LegCo Members meet with members of Tai Po and Wan Chai District Councils (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held separate meetings today (January 26) with members of the Tai Po District Council (DC) and the Wan Chai DC respectively at the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.

     During the meeting with the Tai Po DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on a number of issues, including review of the fisheries policy, resolving the drainage problems and the promotion of aquaculture development; the leisure and recreational facilities works projects and the ancillary transport facilities in Tai Po District; connection of the cycle tracks between Tai Po Waterfront Park and Ting Kok Road; expansion of the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and construction of an integrated community medical centre in Tai Po District; as well as improvement of the road facilities for Tolo Highway and construction of new routes to improve the transport between Tai Po District and the urban areas. The meeting was convened by Mr Chan Hak-kan and attended by Ms Starry Lee, Mr Steven Ho, Mr Ma Fung-kwok, Mr Charles Mok, Mr Chan Chi-chuen, Dr Fernando Cheung, Dr Chiang Lai-wan, Mr Holden Chow, Mr Shiu Ka-chun, Ms Yung Hoi-yan, Mr Chan Chun-ying, Mr Lau Kwok-fan, Mr Kenneth Lau and Mr Jeremy Tam.

     As for the meeting with the Wan Chai DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on a number of issues, including the introduction of legislation to regulate light pollution; review on the enforcement and regulatory work on unauthorised signboards; demolition of the ex-Electrical and Mechanical Services Department headquarters at Caroline Hill Road site; and issues relating to public open space in Wan Chai. The meeting was convened by Mr Poon Siu-ping and attended by Mr Tommy Cheung, Mr Jeffrey Lan, Mr Wong Ting-kwong, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Chan Kin-por, Mr Paul Tse, Mr Frankie Yick, Mr Kwok Wai-keung, Dr Chiang Lai-wan, Mr Shiu Ka-chun, Mr Cheung Kwok-kwan, Mr Lau Kwok-fan, Mr Kwong Chun-yu and Mr Jeremy Tam.
