CSSA caseload for December 2017

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in December 2017 showed a drop of 712 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared with that of November, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (January 24).
      
     The total CSSA caseload at the end of December stood at 232 134 (see attached table), with a total of 336 681 recipients.
      
     Analysed by case nature, all categories of cases recorded a decrease. Both low-earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.8 per cent to 4 401 cases and 12 741 cases respectively.
      
     Single parent cases and ill health cases dropped by 0.6 per cent and 0.5 per cent to 25 792 cases and 23 632 cases respectively. Permanent disability cases decreased by 0.2 per cent to 17 133 cases while old age cases slightly slipped by 0.1 per cent to 144 198 cases.
