Over 5 300 vacancies on offer at North District Recruitment and Training Expo 2018

     The Labour Department, the Social Services, Labour and Economic Affairs Committee of the North District Council and the Hong Kong Youth Power Association will jointly hold the North District Recruitment and Training Expo 2018 at Lung Sum Avenue Sports Centre in Sheung Shui on January 19.

     A total of 66 organisations will participate in the Expo. Fifty-eight organisations, mainly from the retail, catering and property management industries, offering over 5 300 vacancies, will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment. Eight training organisations will provide information on training courses to visitors. Three skill demonstration sessions have also been arranged for the afternoon, with topics including new year household cleaning tips and simple home maintenance task demonstration.

     The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions including shop assistant, clerk, promotion and education assistant, security guard, driver, technician, storekeeper, cashier, cook, waiter/waitress, metal scaffolder, beautician and others. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).

     Around 76 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $8,000 to $16,000. Over 97 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 73 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience.

     Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services and make enquiries on the Work Incentive Transport Subsidy Scheme at the Labour Department's counter.

     The Expo will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Lung Sum Avenue Sports Centre, 155 Jockey Club Road, Sheung Shui (next to North District Sports Ground). Admission is free.
