Fatal traffic accident in Sha Tau Kok

At about 10.17am, a private car driven by a 37-year-old man was travelling along Sha Tau Kok Road - Wo Hang towards Sha Tau Kok. When passing Ma Tseuk Leng San Uk Ha, it reportedly knocked down the 78-year-old man who was crossing the road. The man was crashed onto a medium goods vehicle travelling along Sha Tau Kok Road - Wo Hang towards Sheung Shui and then fell on the ground.
Sustaining injuries on head and chest, he was rushed to North District Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 11.16am.
The private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.
