Sir Robert Ho Tung Fund allocates grants to 171 charitable projects

     The Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund has allocated $8.9 million to 171 charitable projects in the areas of medicine and health, rehabilitation, social welfare, education and community service in the 2017 allocation.

     A spokesman for the Fund's Allocation Committee said today (January 12), "The Fund's donation enables almost 100 organisations to enhance their services, which will benefit a large number of people, especially the underprivileged."

     Major grants included:

* $2,098,000 for the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals to purchase medical and rehabilitation equipment and to organise education camps for children with special needs;

* $509,700 for Prince of Wales Hospital to acquire medical equipment;

* $400,000 for Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital to renovate its clinical treatment room;

* $364,600 for the Po Leung Kuk to acquire nursing and rehabilitation equipment and organise programmes for children with special needs;

* $238,000 for Hong Kong St John Ambulance to provide first aid training for the general public;

* $219,200 for the Salvation Army to acquire equipment and organise programmes for children with special needs;

* $198,000 for Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital to acquire medical equipment;

* $195,400 for the Hong Kong Red Cross to acquire medical equipment and organise programmes for vulnerable groups;

* $163,100 for Wu Oi Christian Centre to acquire equipment and organise training courses;

* $156,200 for the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society to organise training programmes for women and the elderly;

* $154,000 for Queen Elizabeth Hospital to acquire medical equipment; and

* $153,500 for Siu Lam Hospital to acquire medical equipment.

     The Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund, one of the major trust funds in Hong Kong, was set up in 1956 with a bequest of $500,000 by the late Sir Robert Ho Tung. It is now managed by HSBC Trustee (Hong Kong) Limited.
