SCS visits Civil Aviation Department (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joshua Law, today (January 10) visited the Civil Aviation Department and met with its management and frontline staff to learn more about their work and enhance mutual communication.

     Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Thomas Chow, Mr Law first met with the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Mr Simon Li, and the directorate staff. During the meeting he received an update on the department's work in regulating civil aviation activities and providing air traffic control and air navigation services.

     Mr Law then toured the Air Traffic Control Centre, where he was briefed on the key features and operation of the new Air Traffic Management System.

     Mr Law also visited the Personnel Licensing Office to better understand the daily work of the team, which includes arranging flight crew licence examination as well as issuing licenses for flight crews and aircraft maintenance engineers.

     Before concluding his visit, Mr Law met with staff representatives of various grades at a tea gathering to exchange views on matters that concern them. He appreciated colleagues' dedication in carrying out their duties and encouraged them to continue to provide quality services to members of the public.
