************************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Dr Law Chi-kwong, on a child abuse case in Castle Peak before attending a meeting of the Panel on Welfare Services of the Legislative Council today (January 8):

Reporter: How can we detect future cases that (are like) this case? What would the Government do in the future to improve such inspection?

Secretary for Labour and Welfare: We will look into what we can learn from this particular case, in particular the way that schools, our NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and also our Social Welfare Department, whether their communication and collaboration can be enhanced. We will definitely also look into the issue whether sufficient resources are given to deal with these cases and the support given to teachers and school social workers, and see if there is anything the Government can strengthen and improve in the process.
