Statement by the Secretary for Justice

     In response to news reports on suspected unauthorised building works involving the property owned by the Secretary for Justice, Ms Teresa Cheng, SC, the Secretary issued the following statement today (January 6):

"I received a notice from the Buildings Department yesterday (January 5), requesting entry to my property for investigation. For this, I immediately commissioned a professional authorised person to conduct an inspection. I have also reported it to the Chief Executive and undertook to rectify the situation as soon as possible if any unauthorised building works are identified.

I deeply apologise for any inconvenience caused by the incident."
